Why should you be driving a Corolla from McGeorge Toyota?

Thanks a million to the authors of these reviews! Keep it up, team.

"Duane was very responsive. He quoted us a price on the internet, we called and told him we were coming to check out the vehicle. When we arrived the vehicle was clean and parked out front ready to drive. We took a test drive on our own and returned. There were no hassles, the price was as quoted and it was a completely trouble free visit. We left the lot in our new truck in 2 hours from start to finish. This was the most pleasant buying experience that we have ever had. I would highly recommend this dealer. You can not beat their price or service." --bakerla

"I never thought that I would have considered purchasing a Toyota, let alone a Prius but that all changed when I decided to visit McGeorge Toyota. I started my search here on dealer rater and was impressed with the reviews I read, so I decided to check out their website. They had a pretty good selection of 2011 Prius's left so I submitted an inquiry for an "i-price" on one that my wife and I liked. I received an email shortly thereafter from Duane with what I thought was an excellent price, so i gave him a call. He was very nice on the phone and we set up an appointment to come in and take a look at it that afternoon. This next part really impressed me, he actually called me back later and told me that the Prius we were interested in had sold the night before. I was very impressed by this as most dealers would have just decided to surprise you when you got there. I met Duane at the dealer and drove the Prius and loved it. The negotiation process was painless and when I brought my wife down to drive it she loved the car and Duane so we were sold. Which brings us to the next part, F&I. Normally this is a sore spot but definitely not this time. We met finance manager John Ward and he was awesome. Not only was he able to work with our situation and get us approved, but it was at an interest rate much less than we were expecting which really helped our budget. He was a very nice person to talk to and was not pushy at all. He also gave us a great price on a warranty extension so we were able to fit that in our budget as well. Overall if I could give more than 5 stars I would. I hope that when the time comes for us to purchase a new vehicle Duane and John are still there because they made the whole experience great." --marsala_joe

Toyota leads in J.D. Power dependability

Mgt

Toyota has taken eight awards, while Mini and Scion showed the most improvement in the J.D. Power and Associates 2012 U.S. Vehicle Dependability Study.

The study looked at three-year-old vehicles (2009 model year) and measured the problems their original owners experienced with them during the past 12 months. Overall dependability is determined by the level of problems experienced per 100 vehicles (PP100), with a lower score reflecting higher quality.

In the 2012 study, overall dependability averages 132 PP100, an improvement of 13 per cent from vehicles in 2011 that averaged 151 PP100, and the lowest problem rate since the study originated in 1990. When the vehicles were new, they also achieved the highest rating of initial quality in the 2009 Initial Quality Study since that survey’s first appearance in 1987.

Of the 32 brands surveyed, 25 have improved in dependability from 2011, while only six have declined and one has remained stable. Domestic nameplates have improved in 2012 at a slightly faster rate than imports, narrowing the dependability gap to 13 PP100 from 18 PP100 in 2011.

“Despite facing immense challenges in 2009, automakers placed a keen focus on delivering outstanding levels of quality, which they understood would be essential to their long-term success,” said David Sargent, vice-president of global automotive at J.D. Power and Associates. “Three years later, owners of these models are enjoying unprecedented levels of vehicle dependability and manufacturers are experiencing market recovery. This is good news both for owners, who are holding onto their vehicles for longer than ever, and manufacturers, since perception of quality and dependability is a critical factor in vehicle purchase decisions.”

Sargent said there are several brands that have performed very well in dependability during the past several years, but still have relatively high proportions of new-vehicle buyers expressing reliability concerns. These include models from Buick, Cadillac, Ford, Hyundai and Lincoln. “Negative quality perceptions are notoriously difficult to change, and it takes considerable time, but effectively communicating improvements in dependability may reduce concerns, and by extension, help new-vehicle sales,” Sargent said.

Lexus ranked highest in dependability among all nameplates in 2012, and the Lexus LS had the best score at 72 PP100. Rounding out the five highest-ranking nameplates, in order, were Porsche, Cadillac, Toyota and Scion. Compared with their 2011 scores, Mini improved by 60 PP100 and Scion by 55 PP100, the greatest year-over-year improvements.

Toyota took eight segment awards, more than any other automaker, for the Lexus ES350 (tied with the Lincoln MKZ), Lexus RX350, Scion tC, Scion xB, and Toyota Prius, Sienna, Tundra and Yaris.

Thank you to the author of this great review! Way to go, Bob.

"What a wonderful experience we had buying a new car at McGeorge Toyota, thanks to sales consultant, Bob Lannon! My sister came in from out of state and asked me to go with her to look for a new car. Bob Lannon introduced himself to us and eagerly took us to see his inventory and told us everything we wanted to know about the vehicle. My sister took about 6 weeks to look at no less than six dealerships across her home state and found NONE to be as knowledgeable, accommodating or as pleasant to work with as McGeorge, thanks to Bob." --Tim J,

What a stellar review. Keep up the great work, team!

"I have now purchased 2 Toyota Highlanders at McGeorge Toyota and have been incredibly pleased with the customer service, follow-up and attention to detail. Both times, the sales person helped me find the right vehicle with the elements and price I wanted. Additionally, I have utilized the service department for both vehicles and have received outstanding service. For the standard maintenance items, they have had me in and out quickly and always ensured that I was informed of any delays or changes in the timeframe. For more extensive servicing, they have given realistic estimates on time, have provided thorough information on the costs and needs and have ensured that I was aware of any items that I may need to address in the future. The service customer service has been great and I appreciate the follow-up calls and emails to ensure that I have had a positive experience. Whenever I've had any suggestions for improvement/enhancement, they have genuinely listened to my comments. Finally, the online system has been great to work with and I love having the opportunity to make online appointments." --Casey E.

You can't have too much of a good thing. The Toyota Camry Hybrid is proof.

Camryhybrid

When a popular car undergoes a total redesign, buyers might think that would include a price increase. But that is not the case for many 2012 Toyota Camrys. While the 2012 models are all new in this, the Camry's seventh generation, pricing for the popular cars has either been decreased or remains flat, when compared to previous generation models. Only the entry-level L models saw a tiny price increase.

A price decrease could be welcome news to brand loyalists with a hard eye on the bottom line. And don't think you're getting less, either. The 2012 Toyota Camry and Camry Hybrid have added more safety features and other enhancements, added inches on the interior and all have improved driving dynamics. These all-new Camrys boast a revised engine under the hood. The 2.5-liter four cylinder engine versions are equipped with Variable Valve Timing with intelligence. It is a bit more powerful than previous versions and has an improved fuel rating of 25 mpg for city driving and 35 highway driving.

Even more powerful engines are available in the SE and XLE models. A 3.5-liter V6 is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission and gets a rating of 21 mpg city and 30 mpg. highway.

We had the Camry Hybrid model for our test drive, and the Hybrids not only got a revamped engine for 2012, but the models have a Manufacturers Suggested Retail Price that is anywhere from $800 to $1,150 lower than previous versions. The Camry's Hybrid Synergy Drive powertrain is much more powerful and yet is still quite fuel efficient. Its' mpg ratings are a very impressive 43 for city driving and 39 for highway driving.

Standard safety features on board the Camry are bundled into the Toyota Star Safety System. The package includes Vehicle Stability Control, Traction Control, Anti-lock brakes, Electronic Brake Force Distribution and Brake Assist -- all top-flight features.

Even on base models the list of standard features is good, and includes air conditioning with air filter, power windows with auto-down, power door locks, cruise control, tilt and telescoping steering wheel, Bluetooth hands-free capability and an audio system with AM/FM/CD and USB with iPod connectivity. It all just gets better as you move up the model line, and before you know it you have heated leather seats for the driver and front passenger, a Navigation systems and Entune.

Behind the wheel, I noted the cleanly designed dashboard and comfortable seating. Visibility in all directions is excellent.

On the road, we were immediately impressed with the smooth ride. The Hybrid engine was quiet, of course, and yet swiftly responsive. Don't let that hybrid leaf-like logo mislead you into thinking this car will just putter around town.

The rear seat is family-friendly, with its good amount of head, leg and hip room. No complaints about the size of the trunk, either.

No wonder Toyota Camrys are popular cars, and continue to be as they have for seven generations. This newest version offers a bit larger car, better fuel economy, all the best braking and safety features and even a lower sticker price. That sounds like a winning combination to this budget-conscious Mom.

Toyota gives back for the second year with the 100 Cars for Good Program

Toyota

At the Chicago Auto Show today, Toyota announced the return of its “100 Cars for Good” program. For the second straight year, Toyota will award 100 vehicles over the course of 100 days to 100 U.S. nonprofits, with winners selected through public voting on the Toyota Facebook page. Applications for the program will open on March 12, 2012 on Toyota's Facebook page.

The announcement was made by Michael Rouse, vice president of philanthropy and community affairs for Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., who was accompanied by some of the nonprofits that received vehicles in last year’s 100 Cars for Good program.

“At Toyota, we appreciate what a big difference a new car can make for organizations working to improve lives and strengthen communities across the country, and we are thrilled to have this opportunity to lend a hand,” said Rouse. “Over the last 20 years, Toyota has contributed more than half a billion dollars to nonprofits throughout the U.S. 100 Cars for Good allows us to build on that commitment in important, new ways by making the public an integral part of these efforts and harnessing the power of social media to expand awareness and galvanize support for organizations that are having such a tremendous impact in neighborhoods nationwide.”

A 2011 winner of a new Toyota Sienna, the Chicago Zoological Society, also spoke at the announcement.

“We are very appreciative of this tremendous donation from Toyota,” said Stuart Strahl, Ph.D., president and CEO of the Chicago Zoological Society. “The new van has been invaluable in our efforts to bring our conservation and informal science education programs to under-resourced communities throughout Chicago and the suburbs. Our dedicated staff travels year round to these communities, inspiring families to gain an appreciation of nature and wildlife, not only globally, but also in their own backyards. We have also used the minivan to transport young students to the zoo and field locations as part of the Society’s award-winning Youth Volunteer Corps.”

In communities across the country, vehicles from the first year of 100 Cars for Good are making a significant difference. These include:

  • Ensuring that a soup kitchen in Morristown, New Jersey can pick up food donations that used to be turned away due to a lack of transportation, allowing it to provide meals and food to even more people in need;
  • Helping a program near Detroit provide horseback riding visits for kids with cancer; and
  • Supporting the efforts of a nonprofit in Wilmington, North Carolina to train and deliver service dogs to wounded veterans.
Applying for the 2012 100 Cars for Good Program
Beginning March 12, 2012, registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations can apply online at Toyota's Facebook. Finalists will be eligible to win one of six Toyota models, including the Camry Hybrid, Highlander, Prius v, Sienna minivan, Sienna Mobility or Tundra full-sized pickup truck. A six-year, 100,000-mile powertrain warranty will also be provided for each vehicle, compliments of Toyota Financial Services.

The 100 Cars for Good application process will last for two weeks, or until 5,000 applications are received. Of these, 500 finalists will be selected and then certified by an independent panel of judges who are experts in the fields of philanthropy and social responsibility. Each finalist can then submit a video that will be featured on the Toyota 100 Cars site explaining how a new vehicle would help support its work. In addition, Toyota will be providing each of the finalists with communications and social media tools and training to assist their efforts to raise awareness for their organization.

Public voting will begin in May, with the exact date to be announced later, and will continue for 100 consecutive days. Each day, five organizations will be profiled on Toyota's Facebook page and participants may vote for the charity they feel is most deserving of a vehicle.

The four runners up every day will each be awarded a $1,000 grant from Toyota.

100 Cars for Good is the first Toyota initiative that engages the public to determine how corporate philanthropic donations will be awarded. To learn more please, visit Toyota's Facebook page.

Stay safe on the icy roads during these chilly winter months!

Winter Driving Tip: Decrease your speed and leave yourself plenty of room to stop. You should allow at least three times more space than usual between you and the car in front of you.

Way to make us proud, Sean and Richard! Keep it up.

We had a positive experience purchasing our 2012 Venza at McGeorge Toyota. My spouse and I have variable schedules and two small children. E-mail is the easiest way for me to communicate and Sean Jones was prompt and accurate in addressing my questions. He kept us up to date on when our car would arrive. Sean was very informative and nice to work with when we stoppped by for a test drive with just a few hours notice. When our car arrived Sean went out of his way to make sure we had a great experience (he even e-mailed a photo of it coming off of the truck!). The dealership was very busy and he stayed with us until the end and the purchase was complete. Richard Tiffin, our financial services contact, was also great. He was sensitive to our time and helpful with finding the right bank for our loan. Every person we encountered at the dealership was friendly and also nice to our children. We appreciate the customer service that we received. Thank you for making our first Richmond car buying experience a good one!
